How to Split:

1. Release twist handle, lower roll and insert strap. 
2. Raise roll to desired height by pushing twist handle away from you.
3. Twist the handle to lock in the depth and pull the strap toward you
4. Use the brass knob to release and set the handle stop. This allows you to use the same setting later.

How to Skive:

1. Release twist handle, lower roll and insert the strap.
2. Raise roll to desired height by pushing twist handle away from you.
3. As you pull the strap towards you, push the twist handle away to taper the cut.
4. Practice the technique to achieve the desired skive length.
